Die Verschwörung des Fiesco zu Genua: Ein republikanisches Trauerspiel Friedrich Schiller – Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller (10. November 1759 – 9. Mai 1805) war ein deutscher Dichter, Philosoph, Historiker und Dramatiker. In den letzten Jahren seines Lebens (17881805) schloss Schiller eine fruchtbare, wenn auch komplizierte Freundschaft mit dem bereits berühmten und einflussreichen Johann Wolfgang Goethe, mit dem er viel über ästhetische Fragen diskutierte, und ermutigte Goethe, von ihm verlassene Werke zu beenden als Skizzen; dies wich einer Periode, die heute als Weimarer Klassik bezeichnet wird. Gemeinsam arbeiteten sie auch an Die Xenien, einer Sammlung kurzer, aber scharfer Satiregedichte, in denen sowohl Schiller als auch Goethe die Personen, die sie als Feinde ihrer ästhetischen Agenda ansahen, verbal angriffen.

Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller (November 10, 1759 May 9, 1805) was a German poet, philosopher, historian, and dramatist. During the last few years of his life (17881805), Schiller struck up a productive, if complicated, friendship with already famous and influential Johann Wolfgang Goethe, with whom he greatly discussed issues concerning aesthetics, encouraging Goethe to finish works he left merely as sketches; this thereby gave way to a period now referred to as Weimar Classicism. They also worked together on Die Xenien (The Xenies), a collection of short but harshly satiric poems in which both Schiller and Goethe verbally attacked those persons they perceived to be enemies of their aesthetic agenda.
