An Innocent Man is Voltaire’s masterpiece of late philosophical novels. This edition adopts Mr. Fu Lei’s translation. The innocent man grew up in a Canadian tribe and returned to France as an adult. He was put into the Bastille because he was incompatible with hypocrisy and cunning customs. There, he met Galton, a Nepalese scholar. The two became close friends in prison. The innocent man’s understanding of the truth of the world was further improved.
