Clement Clarke Moore (1779–1863) was American Professor of Oriental and Greek Literature at a New York City seminary where he also served as a Professor of Divinity and Biblical Learning. His immortal poem, originally titled ‚A Visit from St. Nicholas, ‚ set the template for today’s vision of Santa Claus, from the white beard to the eight reindeer.


W. W. Denslow (1856–1915) is famous as the original illustrator of L. Frank Baum’s many stories from the land of Oz. Denslow recognized that his work appealed to a young audience and his aim was to make children’s books filled with ‚good, clean, wholesome fun.‘
