Emily Bronte
Wuthering Heights

Soporte
Wuthering Heights, Emily Brontes only novel, was published in 1847 under the pseudonym Ellis Bell. It was written between October 1845 and June 1846. Although Wuthering Heights is now a classic of English literature, contemporaneous reviews were deeply polarised; it was controversial because of its unusually stark depiction of mental and physical cruelty, and it challenged strict Victorian ideals regarding religious hypocrisy, morality, social classes and gender inequality. Wuthering Heights includes the following aspects: . It contains elements of gothic fiction. . The moorland setting is quite significant. . The book is very puzzling and very interesting. . A strangely original book that depicts humanity in the wild state. . The book is illuminated by some gleams of sunshine towards the end. Bold and unique, Emily Brontes Wuthering Heights is a heartbreaking tale of love, loss and vengeance. The novel has inspired adaptations, including film, radio and television dramatisations, a musical, a ballet, operas, and a song by Kate Bush.
