Kubi lived quietly in a small farm in a Vietnamese village, accompanied by good friends. Every day was an adventure. Riding on his friend Ang, a large water buffalo, they plowed the muddy fields so that rice could be planted. One night, there was a big party on the farm to celebrate the Vietnamese New Year, Tet. Music filled every corner of the farm, so Kubi decided to find a cozy spot away from the noise and fell asleep in a little boat… until he woke up far away from his farm!

The award-winning author Erik Speyer born in Argentina, raised in Denmark, South America and the United States, began painting as a child. He has continued this passion throughout his life, even while flying for the U.S. Navy, designing museum exhibits, and directing a science museum. He is a full-time, prize-winning artist now, with watercolors and oils hanging in galleries and in private and corporate collections in the U.S. and Europe.
