Gabriele Schrey-Vasara studierte u.a. Finno-Ugristik und lebt seit 1979 in Helsinki. Sie hat zahlreiche Kriminalromane, etwa von Leena Lehtolainen und Matti Rönkä, und Sachbücher aus dem Finnischen übersetzt. 2008 wurde sie mit dem finnischen staatlichen Übersetzerpreis geehrt.
