MENAS KAFATOS, US-amerikanischer Physiker mit griechischen Wurzeln. Er ist Professor für Computergestützte Physik (CP) an der Chapman University, Autor von mehr als 320 wissenschaftlichen Artikeln und 15 Büchern. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind Kosmologie, Astrophysik, Quantenmechanik und Quantenbiologie, außerdem der Klimawandel und seine Auswirkungen. 1967 erhielt er seinen Bachelor in Physik an der Cornell University, bevor er 1972 seinen PH.D. am Massachusetts Institute für Technology absolvierte. Er ist Gründungsdekan des Schmid Colleges der Wissenschaft und Technik an der Chapman University und steht dem Exzellenz-Zentrum Erdbeobachtung vor. Für seine herausragenden wissenschaftlichen Verdienste wurde er mit dem Fletcher-Jones-Preis ausgezeichnet
