Originally published in 1893 by Irish-American mystic William Quan Judge, “The Ocean of Theosophy” covers much of what is in the Secret Doctrine that is clear and easily understood by those new to the philosophy, providing a comprehensive review of Theosophy’s essential ideas.



These topics are the sevenfold nature of man, reincarnation and karma, dangers of psychic practices (including the pitfalls of pseudo-occultism), earth’s sevenfold being, cosmic and terrestrial cycles, the after-death states, and the existence of highly advanced human beings.



It is knowledge based upon the evidence of the perennial wisdom and on Judge’s experience, and being in his easy language it is one of the most accessible and clear books on original theosophy. 



‘The Ocean of Theosophy’ represents an attempt to summarize the main ideas involved in the theosophical philosophy, explained in a way that can be understood easily by the average reader.



Each chapter is devoted to a specific tenet of theosophy, previously named, and provides an overview of its meaning. 



To this day ‘The Ocean of Theosophy’ remains one of the best books for newcomers to theosophy. Yet it also contains ideas and explanations that continue to be helpful as one’s studies go deeper into the philosophy.
