Chinese Modern History 

This book defines "Chinese modern history" as "the history of Chinese modernization", and takes whether and how China can modernize as the main line of discussion. The academic tradition created by this book was once the mainstream framework for the study of modern Chinese history. Before 1949, almost half of the works on Modern China and the history of modern China’s foreign relations in Chinese historiography were "following" Jiang Tingfu’s historical views. This book not only establishes Jiang’s academic position in the field of modern history research, but also reflects his unique understanding of Chinese culture and the future and destiny of China by his scholars who were impacted by western culture.
