Michael Bollig ist Professor für Ethnologie an der Universität zu Köln und stellvertretender Sprecher des »Cologne Global South Studies Center«. Seine Schwerpunkte sind Umweltethnologie, Globalisierung und hirtennomadische Gesellschaften. Langjährige Forschungen führten ihn ins östliche und südliche Afrika u. a. zu den Themen Konfliktaustragung, Ressourcenmanagement und Naturschutz.
