Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. At all events in the connection for which the mss. Had been consigned to my hands. I consequently decided to restrict myself to adding a few authentic letters to those which Miss Bewick had printed in 1862, and to use the rest, as opportunity offered, in verifying and extending the notes.
