Wang Chong”s Thousand Characters in Xing Script 

Wang Chong (1495-1533), named Luren and Ji, was called Yayizi, Yayi Shanren, , and a native of Changzhou (now Suzhou, Jiangsu). Wang Chong”s poems, writings and paintings are all fine, especially famous for calligraphy. His regular script was studied under Yu Shinan and Zhiyong, and learned Xing Script from Wang Xianzhi. He is good at Xing script, cursive script, small script, and is a representative figure of Wumen calligraphy after Wen Zhengming. Thousand characters in Xing Script, a paper album, 15 open, each page is 24.5 meters in length and 12 meters in width, written on Jinsushan Tibetan scripture paper. The calligraphy is broad , composed, sparse and elegant, ethereal and simple, which is collected in the Palace Museum, Beijing.
