Yu Shinan Confucius Temple Stele 

Yu Shinan (558–638), whose name is Boshi, was born in Yuyao (now Zhejiang) in Yuezhou, Tang Dynasty. Since the Sui Dynasty and the Tang Dynasty, he has worked as secretary lang, living quarters, Qin prince”s army, writing lang, secretarial supervisor, etc., which was highly regarded by Emperor Taizong Li Shimin of the Tang Dynasty. Calligrapher Fa Zhiyong, together with Ouyang Xun, Chu Suiliang, and Xue Ji, was named the "Four Schools in the Early Tang Dynasty". Confucius Temple Stele was carved in Chang”an Confucian Temple in the fourth year of Tang Zhenguan (630), and was written by Yu Shinan. The inscription is thirty-five lines and sixty-four characters in line, describing the appointment of Kong Delun, a descendant of Confucius, as a saint prince, and the repair of the Confucian temple in the 9th year of Wude by Emperor Gaozu of Tang Dynasty (626). This stele is a masterpiece by Yu Shinan in his later years. The font is round, vigorous and beautiful, pure and elegant, and the body is relaxed and natural. This book is a rare book collected by Li Zonghan of the Qing Dynasty. It is the only one of Tang Tuo that has been handed down to this day, and it is now stored in the Mitsui Library of Japan.
