A large number of biofuels have been developed in the recent years to overcome the challenges associated with depletion of fossil fuels and environmental pollution. Especially, major breakthroughs with respect to feedstocks, synthesis, properties and applications of the high-quality biofuels have been achieved. Though many challenges exist till date which hinder the large scale commercialization of these materials, however, it is envisaged that growth in the technological knowhow as well as new feedstocks in the near future will continue to drive the development of biofuels. The book aims to present the recent developments in various aspects of such biofuels, especially related to feedstocks, synthetic methodologies as well as commercialization.

Dr. Vikas Mittal worked as Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at The Petroleum Institute (part of Khalifa University of Science and Technology), Abu Dhabi, UAE. Before, he was employed at BASF, Germany as polymer engineer and at Sun Chemical, UK as materials scientist. Dr. Mittal received his Ph D degree in 2006 from Department of Materials and Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, Switzerland. He has been an active researcher in the field of polymer nanotechnology and its applications in various streams. He has published more than 125 peer reviewed papers on these subjects, along with 35 edited and authored books. His research accomplishments have also resulted in many patents.
