They also provide decision-makers and health policy experts an evidence-based contextual analysis that is driven by needs assessments in the region.The following review focuses on the preclinical therapeutic efficacies of polymers carriers incorporated with antimalarials. These carriers have unique properties such as excellent biodegradability, good biocompatibility, reduced non-toxic effects of the loaded/encapsulated drug and improved drug pharmacokinetics. Incorporating antimalarials onto these carriers can improve their therapeutic outcomes.This collection goes on to review the symptoms, diagnostic approach and treatment options of agammaglobulinemia disorders. Patients with agammablobulinamia usually present with recurrent infections caused by encapsulated bacteria although viral, fungal and parasitic infections can also occur. Diagnosis is initially based upon family/clinical history and physical examination.Another review focuses on clinical studies showing the role that oral magnesium supplementation plays in the improvement of insulin sensitivity. A growing body of evidence from experimental studies shows that hypomagnesemia reduces the tyrosine-kinase activity and autophosphorylation at insulin receptor level, which promotes the aforementioned hypothesis.Pleural effusion occurs when fluid collects in the pleural space, between the parietal and visceral pleura. Many disease processes are associated with pleural effusion, which require physicians to be familiar with its causes, diagnosis, and management. The authors propose that pleural fluid procalcitonin has been shown to be a useful bio-marker for diagnosing a bacterial parapneumonic pleural effusion.Later, a patient with elevated CPK and evidence for prevention of exercise induced rhabdomyolysis is presented. Rhabdomyolysis may present as muscle aches that may not necessitate a visit to the physician, but in some cases it may be fatal. Thus, physicians must always inquire about participation in exercise and counsel athletes and trainers.In the concluding chapter, the authors showcase how to use stereo digital displays for the diagnosis and treatment of amblyopia. In recent years, stereo digital displays have been introduced to provide 3D illusions. Usually they are used for recreational purposes, but theunderlying idea can be applied to the medical field.
