Awarded at the 2016 Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards. Each of Mom’s dresses is unique and inspires me to go on a million adventures. My Mom’s dresses are a mirror of her emotions and invite us to our imagination free.

Isn’t it quite an adventure to see the world through Mom’s dresses? Can you imagine being a princess in her black and white dress, riding a horse and rescuing a pawn? Traveling from “B flat” to “G” on her stripy dress? Sometimes Mom wears a long white dress and then I pick up my brushes, filling it with color. Today, Mom woke up with hearts on her nightgown. I can feel a tingling, and I can’t stop blushing!

Mónica Carretero’s stories and illustrations inspire humor and tenderness, of joy and color, of hope. A book full of secrets that children will love to discover.

Mom’s Dresses is a celebration of the love between mother and daughter.

Mónica Carretero was born in Madrid, but now lives happily in Segovia, where she draws colorful illustrations and writes books for children. She assures that her job makes her feel alive. A passion well depicted in her sunny drawings and original, cheerful characters. She has illustrated dozens of books, games, and posters for Spain, England, France, Korea, Australia, and the United States. Since 2011, her work has been recognized on several occasions, being awarded at the London Book Fair, the Latino Book Awards in the United States, and also in the Book Expo America.
