First published in 1919, Sax Rohmer’s ‘Tales of Secret Egypt’ is a novel set in Egypt that tells the story of Abu-Tabah, the inscrutable Egyptian, who appears and disappears so mysteriously. 

The character is not so blood-curdling a villain as Rohmer’s famous Fu Manchu, but his exploits possess the same breathless interest that characterised the activities of the yellow doctor.
