Dr. Jason Lou represents a medical tradition transmitted over centuries through his family lineage. In 1857, his ancestor brought the art to San Francisco from China to serve the growing Chinese population who arrived during the gold rush and railroad building period. Michael De Marco received a M.A. degree in Asian Studies from Seton Hall University and studied at National Taiwan University’s Mandarin Training Center. Working in Asia emersed Mike in Chinese history and culture. For over twenty years, Mike published the peer-reviewed quarterly Journal of Asian Martial Arts and continues publishing and writing, including Martial Art Essays from Beijing, 1760.
